Take two the redux.

Rach and I were upstairs admiring my handiwork with the two new doorways. Admiration quickly turned to scrutiny when we realized how nice the stairs entered the main studio room when there wasn’t a (nice, sparkling brand new) wall there. I couldn’t help myself. I took down the “offending” doorway and replaced it with a nicely supported, large open entryway. The effect is really quite nice: the ability to see all the way up the stairs from the front door as well as the ability to see directly down the stairs from the main studio room.

All moved in.

A bit late on the uptake but here we are. We finally moved in Friday, February 29 and spent our first night here. Not that I’ve never moved to a new place before but it really felt pretty strange - like we were guests at somebody’s house - somebody’s rather messy house.

We are living downstairs right now, awaiting the upstairs’ transformation. Most everything is living in the damp basement and we hope everything will survive its stay. The photos don’t really tell the entire story of the bottom half of the house and that’s kinda the point. The bathroom down here feels like a lilac womb. Very purple and very… um… ugly. The kitchen is a strange mashup of perhaps an Italian halloween? I’m pretty sure that’s what the past owner was going for - well done! The downstairs salvation comes with the exposed brick - its unassuming texture and color is a big help. All the potential lies behind what is here, we just have to get to it. So, here we are.
